Job Description:
Weber State University invites applications to fill two tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Criminal Justice. These full-time positions will specifically support the department's Crime Scene Investigation program. The selected individuals will be responsible for teaching, scholarship and service activities as core job functions and in pursuit of academic tenure.

Job Duties:
Teaching responsibilities include instruction in the area of forensic sciences/criminalistics, curriculum development and program management. Specific curriculum may include:

• Crime scene investigation theory and practice,
• Forensic photography, 3D laser scanning,
• Latent impression analysis, development and comparison for both fingers and palms,
• Forensic reconstruction disciplines including shooting and bloodstain reconstruction,
• Professional practice including ethics & courtroom testimony,
• Other relevant forensic science disciplines as needed including both pattern and laboratory analysis.

The teaching assignment requires both lecture and laboratory components in a face-to-face format, during the day. Evening or online may be assigned as needed. Perform regular program assessment and curriculum review to improve course offerings and program requirements. Scholarship expectations include engagement in continued professional development and developing a program of scholarly research and publication. Service responsibilities include: student recruitment and career advising; develop and foster relationships between the program and the forensic science community; committee responsibilities at the department, college and university levels.

Required Qualifications:
Note to applicants: the positions are identical with one exception. One of the positions requires a minimum of 5 years full-time experience in latent fingerprint development and analysis in addition the required qualifications listed below.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in criminal justice, forensic science, or other closely related area.
• Minimum of 5 years full-time field experience as a crime scene investigator.
• Experience in effective and inclusive teaching and/or training in courses relevant to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

• History of excellence in higher education teaching
• Development of courses, laboratory exercises, and course materials for higher education students
• Membership and activity in forensic science professional organizations
• Professional certifications in Crime Scene Analysis, Forensic Photography, Latent Print, or other relevant certifications from reputable professional associations
• Record of publications and high-impact educational experiences for university students including undergraduate research

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
