The Office of International Education and Services is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team in the position of International Admissions Specialist (IAS). The IAS will report to the Assistant Director for International Admissions and will provide clerical support for the international admission process. The IAS will be an important part of the International Admissions team that processes close to 5,000 applications a year from prospective students from around the world. The ideal candidate for this position is an ethical person with genuine interest in learning about the people and education systems of other countries, and a team-oriented worker with strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Provide administrative, clerical, and technical support to the multiple aspects of the international admissions workflow
  • Work across multiple software platforms to create and maintain data files in the University's customer relations management (CRM) system, student information system (Ellucian Banner, Element 451, and International Student and Scholar Management) and the document scanning system (Banner Document Manager)
  • Assist with conversion of GPA calculations to the U.S. 4.0 scale
  • Verify authenticity of submitted application materials
  • Maintain and compile international applicants' electronic files
  • Assist with review of application materials
  • Assist in processing and indexing daily incoming and outgoing mail
  • Communicate with prospective, applied, and current international students to relay admission-related information via phone, text, online chat, email, and in face-to-face meetings
  • Provide timely, responsive, and accurate customer service to prospective international students and families, and to international partners representing Southeast (via phone, email, live chat and in person)
  • Work with university databases to run various reports
  • Assist with interpretation of admissions data and policies
  • Assist with managing Banner Document Manager daily operations


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Access as well as other web-based software programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff and public
  • Professional experience working and/or communicating with non-Native English speakers and people from outside the United States
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Evidence of accuracy in recording data and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service essentials
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
