The Southeast Missouri State University Office of Admissions applies a student-centered approach to its work with prospective students. The admissions program is integral to the University's enrollment management efforts and is responsible for developing new student and transfer enrollment to meet institutional enrollment goals. The successful candidate will become part of a highly motivated, energetic admissions team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary point of contact for customer service in the Office of Admissions
- Manages front desk operations
- Maintains schedule of student or staff employees to assist with front desk coverage
- Serves as a resource for inquiries requiring knowledge of university admission requirements, academic offerings, university business processes and university structure
- Interacts with prospective students, parents and school counselors via phone, online chat and email
- Answers main admissions phone line without call routing assist
- Maintains main admissions email account
- Moderates live chat system
- Answers questions about university offerings to engage external audiences to visit, apply and enroll
- Assists with the welcome center in the Admissions Office including greeting campus visitors and scheduling campus visits for prospective students, families and groups
- Assists families with applying for admission
- Provides applicants with information about missing admission requirements
- Perform computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems and transcription from a variety of materials
- Maintain data integrity for campus visit and admissions processes
- Handle confidential materials and information
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong evidence of computer skills including word processing, database and spreadsheet experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to learn about and clearly articulate information to prospective students including beginning freshmen, transfer, returning, homeschooled, GED, graduate and international students
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with diverse populations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff and the public
- Demonstrated ability to organize and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Evidence of accuracy in recording data and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Demonstrates innovative approaches in problem solving
- Exercises sound judgment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships and understanding of customer service
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
