Position Title Sr. Financial Analyst - Finance and Grants Overview
Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements, proper grant administration, as well as support the College’s efforts in obtaining new grants, which creates opportunities for faculty and students. Support monthly and financial reporting and perform various analyses to help ensure the proper fiscal management of the College. Essential Duties:
1. Prepare the monthly grant financial book, monthly financial reports to principal investigators, and perform analysis, review of monthly grant financials for variances, and monthly/quarterly financial reporting to various agencies, i.e NSF, NIH, etc. Monitor and implement various federal grant policies. Assist in the development of the Indirect Cost Rate ( IDC ). Negotiate with cognizant federal agency, review all grant proposals before submission to grantor agencies, all grant-related purchase requisitions, and all vendors using EPLS to ensure that they are eligible to receive federal funds. Work closely with auditors on the Uniform Guidance annual audit of federal funds, time and effort reporting on federal grants, and inventory tracking and tagging of all equipment acquired with federal grant funds. (30%)
2. Provide analysis of monthly financials and all line items of revenue and expense, and assist with commentary on revenue and divisional expense variances. Maintain contact with various departments to gain insights on variances, as well as soliciting information that will be used in completing operating forecasts. (25%)
3. Assist the Director in the annual budget development process. Analyze certain accounts such as depreciation and copy center charges and allocate employee benefits, etc. to all departments as part of this process. Detect and communicate problem areas and assist in resolving issues. Allocate fringe benefits to departments monthly. (20%)
4. Using peer institution financial statements, IPEDS, and other sources, prepare the financial/ KPI benchmarking report for period review of the Board of Trustee Finance Committee. Assist the Associate Vice President in providing information to the College’s rating agencies, bank, and bondholders. (15%)
5. Work on other ad hoc reports and projects. (10%) Marginal Duties:
1. Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution required
  • Three to five years’ experience in a grant accounting or financial analysis with grant experience position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with both federal and non-federal grants
  • Knowledge of Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR200)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills
