Position Title Assistant Director of Class Giving Overview
Organize and manage reunion class fundraising and volunteer efforts to increase alumni giving and participation. Serve as an annual giving/class giving representative on select committees, and collaborate with OIA colleagues and other campus partners in the planning and implementation of class specific programs, projects, and/or events as assigned. Essential Duties:
1. Strategically identify, recruit, train, motivate, and supervise 50+ reunion volunteers, which may include managed prospects, and other high-level donors, to serve on class Reunion Committees. Formulate class giving and participation goals. Provide staff support, leadership, and overall direction to volunteer committees. Establish and develop relationships with lead alumni volunteers, guiding them through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process used in peer-to-peer outreach. Manage the execution of all solicitation assignments for volunteers. Develop appropriate communications essential to the attainment of class goals, including but not limited to, training materials, conference calls, fundraising updates, etc. Plan, execute, and staff reunion-based cultivation and recognition events, prepare briefings for the President, Trustees, senior administrators and other staff, colleagues, and key volunteers speaking and/or attending these events. (50%)
2. Establish class goals for non-reunion classes and oversee the activity of 30+ Class Agents by providing staff support, leadership, and overall direction for volunteers. Collaborate with members of the annual giving/alumni relations team to move class agents onto reunion gift committees when appropriate, and develop a system to identify new agents from the reunion fundraising and engagement initiative. Establish and develop relationships with lead alumni volunteers, guiding them through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process used in peer-to-peer outreach. Manage the execution of all solicitation assignments for volunteers. Develop appropriate communications essential to the attainment of program goals, including but not limited to, training materials, conference calls, fundraising updates, etc. (40%)
3. Research and qualify reunion and non-reunion prospects. Leverage class affinity and/or the reunion year as a solicitation strategy to increase commitments. Cultivate, solicit, and steward these prospects as strategically appropriate. Determine and implement strategies for engaging prospects and donors in ways that bring them closer to the College. In coordination with other fundraisers, craft and execute strategies for comprehensive giving. Summarize outreach, communications, and proposal details via contact reports within expected timeframe. Utilize the CRM to input data. (10%) Marginal Duties:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required
  • Three to five years’ of previous fundraising or similar experience at a university or other comparable organization or equivalent professional experience in sales, marketing, training, or public relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, who is goal oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, management, and motivational skills
  • Comfort in dealing with a wide range of College constituencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills with experience using a CRM database, word processing, and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to handle highly confidential prospect information
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Some travel expected
