ABOUT GOUCHER COLLEGE:

Named one of the top 10 most innovative colleges in the country by U.S. News & World Report, Goucher College has also been recognized as a College that Changes Lives. Located in Baltimore, Maryland, Goucher is a private, coed, liberal arts college dedicated to teaching students to be complex problem solvers who are prepared for the jobs of the future. A Goucher education focuses on creating lifelong learners through an interdisciplinary, international education that requires 100% of students to study abroad.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Psychology Program at Goucher College invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position specializing in clinical psychology to begin Fall 2022. Applicants should have a PhD in Clinical Psychology and be licensed or license-eligible, show a commitment to undergraduate education, and demonstrate evidence of scholarship potential. We welcome applicants from various areas of expertise within clinical psychology and we are particularly interested in candidates whose current research focuses on disadvantaged or underrepresented populations, including but not limited to an emphasis on issues of race, class, and gender/gender identity and/or other salient social identity-related constructs.

REQUIREMENTS:

The typical teaching load for tenure-track faculty is 20 credits per year (the equivalent of five 4-credit courses) and may include rigorous mentoring of undergraduates on a research team throughout the academic year. Faculty are generally expected to teach at least one service course (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Statistical Methods in Psychology, or Quantitative or Qualitative Research Methods in Psychology), one intermediate level course within the colleague's area of expertise, one advanced seminar course within the colleague's area of expertise, and to contribute to capstone offerings. Goucher College supports tenure-track faculty development through pre-tenure leave, sabbaticals, programming through the Center for the Advancement of Scholarship and Teaching, and internal research grants.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

We are looking for a colleague who will complement and extend existing departmental faculty expertise, who possess an interest in applying psychology to social justice issues and have experience working with culturally diverse student populations. We especially encourage candidates with expertise and interest in social-justice-focused areas of psychology, including a focus on gender minorities, sexuality, and health to apply.

The college's strategic plan has placed an emphasis on international and intercultural experiences for our students, and there are opportunities for new faculty to develop courses and experiences with an international or intercultural focus.

Teaching is at the heart of our mission, and we are committed to building student-mentoring relationships, as well as helping students develop resilience and encouraging them to reflect on their individual learning experiences as the basic building blocks for a lifetime of success. We seek colleagues with a commitment to this kind of student mentoring and we encourage innovation both inside and outside the classroom. In your application materials, you should clearly articulate how you envision achieving these goals.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Applications received by January 31, 2022 will receive priority consideration. Interested applicants must apply online at http://goucher.interviewexchange.com.

Please submit the following application materials online: an up-to-date CV, cover letter, statement of scholarly interests, and a teaching philosophy statement. The latter should include information from teaching evaluations, when available. You should also include a separate statement in which you demonstrate your commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Your statement should address your ability to work across diverse groups and contribute to inclusivity in the campus community.
