University of Delaware
Provost

The University of Delaware invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Provost. Reporting to University of Delaware President Dennis Assanis, the Provost is the chief academic officer of the University, responsible for the development, operation and sustained excellence of all academic programs across the University’s colleges, schools, and interdisciplinary centers and institutes.

The University of Delaware is a research-intensive university with global impact. As the chief academic officer of the campus, the Provost will work with the Deans, the Chairs and Directors, and the faculty, students and staff to shape and articulate the University’s academic and scholarly mission during an exciting time of extraordinary growth and innovation for UD. As the steward of academic excellence, the Provost is responsible for the administration and continuous enhancement of all programs of instruction, research, advising and mentoring, and for enabling the success of the University’s faculty and students. In order to be effective, the Provost must understand each college intimately, embracing its unique vision and facilitating its development, while also facilitating cross-college collaboration and translating and incorporating college goals into a cohesive academic plan that supports and amplifies the total University mission and vision.

The University of Delaware seeks to appoint an individual who brings strong academic leadership to an institution deeply committed to the idea of unparalleled academic excellence and distinction, and a strong, cohesive University. The next Provost will need to demonstrate a distinguished record of scholarship in their own academic discipline, suitable for a tenured appointment as full professor.
