Position Title Teaching Faculty, Department of Economics and Business The Opportunity

The Department of Economics and Business at the Colorado School of Mines invites applications for two full-time teaching faculty positions to begin in August 2022. The positions are non-tenure-track open rank.

The first position will be for a new faculty member whose primary expertise is in business analytics, operations research, or industrial engineering. The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to help develop and support the quantitative business programs on campus and teach graduate and undergraduate courses such as business analytics, supply chain analytics, stochastic modeling, and simulation via traditional and online modalities.

The second position will be for a new faculty whose primary expertise is in marketing with additional expertise in international business, product management, leadership, entrepreneurship, or business communications. The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to teach graduate and undergraduate courses such as the principles of marketing, marketing analytics, new product development, project management, international business, and business communications via traditional and online modalities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver course materials in traditional, online, and hybrid modalities demonstrating teaching excellence.
  • collaborate effectively in curriculum development, innovative pedagogy, and other departmental service particularly at the undergraduate level.
  • Contribute both institutionally and professionally through active service.
  • Cultivate and promote an inclusive and diverse Mines community through recruiting, mentorship, and service.
  • Collaborate across campus representing the department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Marketing, Strategic Management, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Operations Research, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited program by the time the appointment begins.
  • High potential for or demonstrated successful record of college level teaching in marketing, new product development, project management, international business, business communications or business analytics, stochastic modeling, supply chain analytics, and simulation.
  • Teaching Assistant Professor: Potential for excellence in teaching and educational service with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Teaching Associate Professor: 3-7 years of demonstrated teaching excellence and evidence of educational service.
  • Teaching Full Professor: 7 plus years of demonstrated teaching excellence, evidence of educational service and leadership, and application of educational research.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exhibit the potential and desire to be involved in the improvement of our degree programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing and developing undergraduate programs
  • Successful record of graduate-level teaching in marketing, new product development, project management, international business, business communications or business analytics, stochastic modeling, supply chain analytics, simulation.

Pay Range

Mines is offering an academic year salary of $84,700 to $138,000.

Mines takes into consideration a combination of rank requested, candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
