Position Overview:

The University of Houston-Victoria is seeking a dynamic and collaborative leader to serve as our next Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Reporting to the Provost and serving on the President’s Cabinet, the Director will partner with administration, faculty, and staff to foster a culture of data-driven decisions, outcomes assessment, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be a proven project manager, capable of coordinating campus-wide accreditation (SACSCOC), assessment, and reporting requirements. Our next director must also be a strong communicator and effective educator, committed to working across departments and Colleges to promote student success and institutional effectiveness. 

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

Coordinates institutional planning, research, and assessment. Oversees institutional research to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of institutional data to external and internal constituents. Provides leadership for sustaining an environment in which data and assessment are the foundation of decision making for ongoing improvement.

  1. Coordinates and supervises the university’s planning and assessment activities, particularly annual program and unit assessment and budget planning.
  2. Serves as liaison to external regulatory agencies, including Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and SACSCOC, related to accreditation, substantive change, and new programs.
  3. Assists academic programs, student support units, and administrative units with the design and use of assessment to improve program and unit quality.
  4. Conducts qualitative and quantitative research projects related to academic affairs, planning and assessment, program development, and other policy issues.
  5. Coordinates academic program review; assists with collection and preparation of data for accreditation self-studies.
  6. Provides assistance to individuals and units with research design and statistical analysis, including overseeing administration of campus-wide surveys.
  7. Monitors developments related to states’ authorization of online courses and programs.
  8. Coordinates the activities of institutional research to support strategic planning and the university’s mission.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  

Minimum Education: Master's degree with coursework in educational assessment, measurement, evaluation, or a related discipline; doctorate preferred; 

Minimum Experience: (5) years related experience; teaching experience in higher education preferred
