University of Florida College of Medicine - Jacksonville is accepting applications for a Pediatric Nephrologist to join the division of Nephrology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level on the multi-mission track. Rank and Tenure status will commensurate with qualifications. Our Division currently consists of one faculty member, an advanced practice registered nurse, an RN educator, a social worker, and a dietitian The Division of Pediatric Nephrology works in close collaboration with the University of Florida Division of Pediatric Rheumatology the Division of Pediatric Urology at Nemours Children’s Specialty Services, and the pediatric renal transplant program at UF Health Gainesville. The division provides a complete range of inpatient and outpatient pediatric nephrology services, including management of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, inpatient and outpatient plasmapheresis services, and renal replacement therapy (continuous renal replacement therapy, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis - with and without ECMO).

The candidate will be responsible for providing clinical activities to include: inpatient consultation, outpatient clinic, chronic hemo and peritoneal dialysis unit; Education responsibilities include: teaching medical students and housestaff as well as participating in the development of the pediatric nephrology program.

Participation in monthly department faculty meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested. Possible teaching of residents, fellows and medical students.

The UF Health Gainesville program performs renal transplantation. Our division operates innovative clinical programs including a large ambulatory blood pressure monitoring program. Additionally, members of the division participate in research collaborative studies.

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three colleges at the Health Science Center Jacksonville. The college is affiliated with UF Health in Jacksonville, a health system comprised of two hospitals — the 603-bed UF Health Jacksonville and 92-bed UF Health North — and more than 60 primary and specialty care practices throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 440 faculty members, 1,560 staff and 384 residents and fellows, as well as medical students from UF and around the country. We offer an incredible breadth of clinical training program sand proud to train many of best primary care providers and specialists throughout the region, the state and the country.

The college offers 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 non-standard programs. More than 100 residents and fellows from programs across the U.S. come to UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville to participate in various clinical rotations as well.

In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville. Third-year medical students enrolled at UF spend about 25 percent of their training at the Jacksonville campus, gaining valuable experience in an urban setting. While third-year rotations are only offered to UF students, elective rotations in the final year of clinical training are available to students from accredited schools in the US and Canada.

For practicing physicians, the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields.

The college's faculty, residents and fellows are active in clinical research. Residents and fellows regularly present their findings at locations across the country and publish their projects in well-known publications. In 2019, the campus received $23.1 million in external research funding, approximately 50% of which was federally sponsored projects.

The campus houses a 16,000-square-foot clinical and translational research facility. To support faculty and resident research, the college has a Center for Data Solutions, offering researchers analytics, epidemiology and biostatistics support, and a Center for Research Training, helping develop the next generation of highly collaborative clinical researchers.

Located in the Northeastern part of the state on the Atlantic Ocean, Jacksonville’s weather is sunny and pleasant. We enjoy an average of 320 days of sunshine each year, yet have the coolest summers in the state. Known as the River City, Jacksonville is a major port city with numerous waterways, two Naval bases, several nature preserves, marshes, lakes, wetlands and miles of beaches. Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should possess a MD/DO degree, be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida and for credentialing at area hospitals, be board-certified in Pediatrics, and be board-eligible/board-certified in pediatric nephrology.
