Full-time Faculty Position

The Department of Pathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine invites applicants with a M.D. degree to apply for a full-time faculty position in Transfusion Medicine, in the Division of Clinical Pathology, Laboratories of Pathology, University of Maryland Medical Center. Applicants should have extensive clinical experience in Transfusion Medicine and board certified or board eligible. Clinical responsibilities for the position are with Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine in the Laboratories of Pathology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. This is a very active transfusion medicine service that transfuses approximately 62,000 units of blood products per year. The Transfusion Medicine service in the Department of Pathology and the Critical Care units in the Department of Medicine support nationally recognized centers and comprehensive and innovative medical and surgical services, including the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center, organ transplant service, and critical intensive care units, and is involved in multi-institutional clinical trials.

The applicant should have evidence of scholarly achievement, and experience teaching and training medical students, residents, and fellows. In addition, research experience in obtaining research funding and/or experience in developing and translating their discoveries into novel clinical applications. A history of research funding and current research funding will be given preference. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.
