    Department Summary
    University Advancement (UA) supports the University of Oregon's (UO) mission of providing exceptional teaching, discovery, and service by strategically positioning the university to create awareness, build long-term relationships, and secure resources that increase understanding and further its aims. The division consists of approximately 200 employees primarily working out of Eugene, with offices in Portland and Bend. Departments within University Advancement include: the UO Alumni Association; Development; Advancement Operations; Federal Affairs; and State and Community Affairs.     The Advancement Strategies and Technology Innovation department is focused on finding the solutions for foundational issues that will best position UO Advancement to achieve its goals around engagement and fundraising. The department has a unique function in that it is based in UO Advancement, but also has a strong working partnership and provides strategic direction to UO Foundation (UOF) and UO Information Services staff.
    Position Summary
    As a key member of the Constituent Data and Technology Applications team, the Business Analyst will help transform University Advancement's approach to using digital technology and constituent data. Reporting to the Director of Constituent Data and Technology Applications, this position works to understand existing business processes, identify process improvements, gather and document information, become a liaison for stakeholders, and lead projects from inception to completion. The Business Analyst is focused on streamlining internal processes for the University Advancement and UO Foundation teams, as well as improving the donor giving experience. Outside of the University Advancement team, this position strongly partners with several teams within the UO Foundation.

    Success in this position requires the ability to work with and understand complex data and processes and translate that information into clear recommendations for process improvements and strategy. This position also requires excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and manage projects for the organization, the ability to present information to internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and a focus on supporting all fundraising teams toward meeting or exceeding their goals.

    This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work, and can be located in either Eugene or Portland.
    Minimum Requirements
    1. Three years* of specialized experience performing management improvement studies in such areas as:
    a) organizational analysis, b) systems and procedures analysis, c) records management analysis, d) space utilization studies, e) work measurement or work simplification studies, f) cost benefit analysis, g) budget analysis, or h) other related efficiency and/or effective research studies; AND

    2. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Psychology, or closely related field; OR three more years of technical or staff level experience assisting in planning and carrying out various management improvement studies in a least one of the previously listed areas.

    *A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Psychology, or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of the specialized experience.

    5. Strong understanding of and competence with donor software tools and systems strategy as it relates to fundraising and the donor experience.
    6. Demonstrated ability to manage stressful situations with tact and diplomacy and to use sound judgment and initiative, particularly as it relates to handling sensitive and/or confidential information.
    7. Ability to map processes and data flows as well as efficiently prepare reports, document policies and procedures, and prepare other written materials.
    8. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with leaders and high-level stakeholders.
    9. Ability to work with individuals with varying backgrounds and knowledge levels to provide education on data quality standards.
    10. Ability to handle confidential and discreet information; must sign a confidentiality/non-disclosure statement for access to the UO's donor database.
    11. Ability to interact, communicate and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Business analysis experience including workflow development, data modeling, solution design and process/policy development.
    2. Experience working with multiple complex databases and related data fields; including Advance CRM or similar platform.
    3. In-depth knowledge of statistical methods, test and best practices.
    4. Basic knowledge of gift processing best practices.
    5. Basic knowledge of higher education advancement principles.
