Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening of a Business System Analyst.

The Business Systems Analyst reports directly to both VP of Finance and ED Human Resources. It is a technical service management position responsible for the on-going assessment of information needs related to the College's Human Resources, Finance and Purchasing computing systems. This position provides functional support to financial services, human resources, purchasing, budget, payroll, and accounts receivable staff in the use of the Ellucian Banner administrative system, related processes and related technology support. Act as a subject matter expert in these areas, to the College.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the coordination and the continued development of the College's Banner System for the Human Resources, Finance and Purchasing departments.  

Reviews, develops and documents system & operational controls and procedures as required.

Responsible for the analysis, interpretation, and implementation of changes to Human Resources, Finance and Purchasing modules as required by regulation and software upgrades.

Responsible for development of new and the enhancement of existing procedures pertaining to the College's Banner system for Finance, Human Resources and Purchasing.

Responsible for the Human Resources side of the Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC) module every semester.  Including, but not limited to updating & maintaining permissions, rules, rates and the uploading of records into Banner.

Consults with supervisors, programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions, features, etc and interfaces with other systems.

Responsible for the development and review of operational controls, procedures and technical documentation by maintaining documentation of changes to computer code, programs, and specifications to confirm consistency with program operations.

Works with programmers to design or write program specifications as needed. 

Responsible for training end users to use and support program.

Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs.

Additional duties as may be assigned.

 

Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in related field required.  5 to 7 years related experience and/or training. Experience working with Ellucian Banner software system or a similar college administration software system in the areas of Finance and Accounting is required. Experience in financial services, accounting and personnel management or automated financial services or human resources systems. High level of initiative with strong organizational skills. Experience with evaluating business processes and implementing new systems and/or process improvements. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent documentation, organizational and communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to work in a team environment that is cross functional and interdepartmental. Ability to deal with conflicting deadlines on a regular basis. Risk assessment is vital. A simple change can have major cascading consequences. Ability to exercise judgment and analysis to arrive at recommendations or conclusions. Excellent time management skills.
