DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AND POLICY

Graduate Program Director of Health Policy & Management

We invite applications for Graduate Program Director of Health Policy and Management and Instructional Faculty members.  This non-tenure track faculty position will join us in Summer 2022 or Fall 2022.

The past year has magnified the ways that inequities—whether due to race, gender, sexuality, or income—contribute to health disparities. These inequities are a major public health threat and demand a concerted, interdisciplinary effort. At the College of Public Health, we dedicate ourselves to public health in all its parameters, from epidemiology to nursing, from social work to rehabilitation sciences. Social justice has always driven our work, understanding that individual outcomes are intricately tied to the larger systems we inhabit, is the foundation of our college.

Consisting of 20 disciplines, including a focus on Health Policy and Mangement, the Temple University College of Public Health’s interprofessional culture fosters collaboration both within and outside the College.  We value differences among our faculty and believe that we can better serve and understand our Philadelphia community and beyond through the diversity of our individual faculty and our disciplines. Join us in our mission to develop progressive, compassionate researchers, practitioners, and clinicians to build a better tomorrow, grounded in creating the environments and health infrastructure that will make us the healthiest nation.

The Position. The Graduate Program Director will schedule MPH and PhD courses, participate in recruiting and review of applications for graduate student admissions, work closely with the Graduate Advisor to provide guidance to all MPH students, coordinate faculty advisors for PhD students, develop workshops, journal clubs and other professional development opportunities for graduate students, attend monthly Graduate Council meetings, attend monthly MPH curriculum meetings, coordinate program improvement, lead curriculum improvement, coordinate CEPH accreditation reports, conduct other duties as needed, and teach relevant courses.

Qualifications. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate with at least 5 years of public health, health services or health administration experience, with prior record teaching graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels. Candidates are welcome from relevant disciplines in public health and social science disciplines. For the program director position, we seek passionate professionals committed to academic leadership in training the next generation of practitioners and researchers about the real-world aspects of public health policy and management.  The initial appointment may be for one year, but longer-term appointments are available for faculty with considerable experience who demonstrate effective and excellent teaching and service.  The Instructional Faculty Position will primarily teach in the classroom, but we particularly seek persons with experience in online education. This includes familiarity with learning management systems and communication/educational software.

All faculty are active in the local community and contribute to the curriculum and the Department’s committees. We value diversity and seek individuals committed to inclusivity in collaborative education and practice, prepared to join us in our commitment toward prioritizing sustainable, inclusive, and anti- oppressive practices.  Rank and salary depend on experience and qualifications.  COVID-19 vaccinations are required for employment at Temple University unless granted a religious or medical exemption (see www.temple.edu/coronavirus).
