Job Summary:

The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin. This position independently provides a wide variety of program support for the Environmental Health Division at the WSLH's Agriculture Drive location in Madison. This position functions as part of our internal and external customer support team, providing general and technical support to lab personnel, state and federal agencies and private citizens. This position is responsible for receiving, preparing and logging in Environmental Health Divisions samples. Working conditions are primarily in a laboratory setting.

Laboratory Support
Responsible for opening and processing incoming environmental samples, verifying and documenting sample condition, adding acid to samples as required, performing pH tests on specific samples as required and entering of sample details into Laboratory Information System (LIMS) and assign tests to samples. Coordinate data flow through QA/QC processes. Transport samples throughout the division.

Administrative Support
Serves as a point of contact for both internal and external customers. This may include responding to inquiries, taking orders for water testing kits, interpret EPA Safe Drinking Water Act and Wisconsin DNR rules and regulations for private and public drinking water. A wide range of other duties as needed including water test kit productions and assist in other areas of support within the Horizon Data Management Team.

Qualifications:

Minimum years of experience
1 year of customer service and lab experience preferred.

Self-starter with a willingness to work as part of a team. Demonstrate exceptional verbal communication and possess organizational skills and an attention to detail. Ability to maintain calm demeanor and pleasant attitude in fast paced environment.
