Admissions Recruitment Counselor

Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for recruiting prospective students, advising students on degree/career programs, assisting students with the admissions process, and assisting in developing/implementing marketing strategies for recruitment of students. There will be a heavy emphasis on external recruitment activities, including college fairs, high school/employer/community agency visits, as well as on campus recruitment events. The position will require travel, weekend and evening work.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • With Director of Admissions & Recruitment, identify specific recruitment territory, goals and annual travel and recruitment plan across all certificate and degree programs;
  • Assist in the implementation of a successful recruitment program for all prospective students;
  • Emphasis on recruiting and enrolling Automotive, Nursing, Allied Health, Education, and STEM students from regional Vocational/Tech. High Schools and selected other targeted area employers and community agencies;
  • Including but not limited to targeted recruitment assignments, representing MassBay Community College at high school visits, career nights, open houses, information sessions, and other on and off campus events related to college admissions;
  • Communicate accurate information about MassBay, admissions, academic programs, and financial aid;
  • Promote the value of a public community college to guidance counselors, referral sources and prospective students;
  • Assist with tele-counseling campaigns to outreach prospective students and their families;
  • Assist with sending emails and calling students who have registered for on campus events;
  • In collaboration with other campus offices; assist in the development and delivery of programming in the area of college awareness;
  • Work collaboratively with Admissions staff members to plan and execute effective recruitment activities on and off campus;
  • Utilize current systems within the department to capture and follow up with prospective and accepted students;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Sociology, Liberal Arts, or closely related field; with two (2) years experience and/or training involving public education, college admissions, academic advisement, or customer service; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong public speaker, outgoing, and energetic;
  • Demonstrated strong communications skills;
  • Schedule flexibility;
  • Full-time use of a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel extensively;
  • Availability to work evenings and weekend events when needed;
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $47,597 (interval 30) - $56,639 (interval 16), in accordance with one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure.
