Job Summary:

The primary responsibility if the Associate Director of Financial Aid is to support the Director of Financial Aid. The Associate Director oversees a staff of financial aid administrators who work to ensure students are properly funded, packaged, and prepared to start each semester. The Associate Director of Financial Aid will serve as the PeopleSoft functional lead for the Financial Aid Office. The Associate Director of Financial Aid will work collaboratively with other university departments, divisions, and any external vendors, to ensure the student experience is seamless and the student financial aid award packaging is completed in a timely manner.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the PeopleSoft Oracle Functional Lead for Financial Aid Office.
  • Responsible for trouble shooting and resolving technical problems and concerns.
  • Coordinates and patriciates in testing for PeopleSoft update/bundles through the verification and validation process.
  • Trains new and current staff as needed on Peoplesoft processes.
  • Serves as the liaison between the Coppin State OIT division, the Department of Education ( NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc. ) and the Financial Aid Office.
  • Performs technical functions in support of the student administration system.
  • Develop and/or update written procedures for all Title IV, State and Institutional programs.
  • On a regular and continuous basis, exercise administrative judgement and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences and results having an impact on people, costs and/or quality of services within the functional area.
  • Coordinates a variety of special and recurring analyses and reports including reconciliation of all Federal, State, and Institutional programs.
  • Coordinates all technological advances including electronic transfer of data with the US Department of Education.
  • Assists in gathering of scholarship data and statistical reporting to Federal, State, Institutional and outside entities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Information Technology, Psychology, Counseling or closely related field.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years or progressively responsible financial aid experience.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in Financial Aid and Title IV administration.
  • Manages services from third party vendors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Good Communications and public relations skills.
  • Experience that demonstrates ability to exercise sound professional judgement in complex financial matters.
  • Experience communicating complex information effectively in oral and written, formats.
  • Knows the form and informal departments within the University.
  • Ability to be sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and verbal communications
  • Ability to continually look for solution and improvements that enhance the financial aid process and improve the University profile.
