The School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a Lecturer Part-Time faculty position.  The length of the appointment is 3 months (March 15 – June 15, 2022) to teach one section of The Science of Environmental Sustainability (TESC 201) during the Spring quarter.  The appointment is contingent upon adequate enrollment. This is a lecture-based course that discusses the origins of sustainability and its development as a scientific discipline.  The interaction between natural and social systems and their impact on sustainability is also discussed.  In addition, students are taught about methodologies used by scientists to measure and develop sustainable systems.

The Tacoma campus of the University of Washington was founded in 1990 with an interdisciplinary approach at its foundation. It has evolved into a thriving downtown campus that serves students of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds in the South Puget Sound. Faculty have access to the resources of the University of Washington, a major research university, including an extensive library system, but work and teach within a small campus setting. Our campus provides a supportive environment for the development of creative teaching, research, and community collaborations. The campus commitment to equity and inclusion is central to maintaining an atmosphere where students, staff, and faculty find abundant opportunities for intellectual, personal, and professional growth within our campus and broader community.
