Shenandoah University’s College of Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a Director, Division of Applied Technology. This is a full-time, 9 month, career contract benefited position to begin the Fall 2022 semester located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

Shenandoah University seeks an innovative and visionary individual to lead the Division of Applied Technology (DAT). DAT, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, includes programs in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, and Virtual Reality Design. DAT seeks to develop learners who are critical and creative thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and globally engaged citizens. The successful applicant will have an appropriate degree in a field related to the DAT mission and will have academic credentials or administrative experience that would qualify the applicant for the rank of associate or full professor. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to help Shenandoah design and deploy new programs and innovative pedagogies and delivery methods to meet the needs of both students and industry in a rapidly evolving environment. Most notably, we are seeking a leader who can guide in the development of programs in the areas of engineering and blockchain technology. The ideal candidate will have had academic leadership experience and be able to demonstrate past collaborative and/or interdisciplinary projects. The successful candidate also will be positioned to contribute to the university's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Shenandoah University, in Winchester, Virginia, is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and also lies in close proximity to Northern Virginia/Washington DC, a rapidly growing hub of technology and industry. Responsibilities:

  • Lead in articulating, refining and strengthening a vision and mission for the Division
  • Identify and implement innovative, relevant, and engaging pedagogies and delivery methods for DAT courses
  • Foster the development of new programs and curricular pathways Develop industry relationships, internships, and career pathways for students
  • Teach courses in a relevant DAT area Contribute directly to our commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity Oversee administration (budgeting, scheduling, staffing) within the division
  • Establish articulation agreements/transfer pathways with other institutions Supervise program assessment and cultivate a climate of continuous improvement

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have an appropriate degree in a field related to the DAT mission (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, Virtual Reality, Engineering) and will have academic credentials or administrative experience that would qualify the applicant for the rank of associate or full professor.
