Position Summary

This position is a tenure-track Clinical Microbiologist, with an emphasis in poultry health and disease, entering at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program, support the microbiology diagnostic efforts at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center diagnostic laboratory, and teach in the professional and graduate curriculum in their area(s) of expertise. The selected faculty member will establish a research program focused on microbial research in poultry specific pathogens, cooperatively working with faculty members in the College of Veterinary Medicine as well as in other Colleges and Centers at UGA . Rank, salary, and terms of appointment will be dependent upon qualifications and experience of the applicant.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Microbiology, Veterinary Microbiology, Bacteriology, Microbial Pathogenesis, Antimicrobial Resistance or related field, and a minimum of 2-years of teaching experience.

Tenure Track Associate Professor
Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Microbiology, Veterinary Microbiology, Bacteriology, Microbial Pathogenesis, Antimicrobial Resistance or related field, and a minimum of 5-years of experience in rank at the Assistant Professor level before the start date.

Tenure Track Full Professor
Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Microbiology, Veterinary Microbiology, Bacteriology, Microbial Pathogenesis, Antimicrobial Resistance or related field, and a minimum of 5-years of experience in rank at the Associate Professor level before the start date.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

- DVM, MD, or equivalent advanced degree
- Board certification or eligibility for board certification in microbiology, veterinary microbiology ( ACVM ) or poultry veterinary medicine ( ACPV )
- A strong record of teaching and research productivity
- A strong track record and an interest in expanding cross-disciplinary approaches to problems resulting from bacterial pathogens in poultry
- Expertise in clinical microbiology as it relates to poultry pathogens and antimicrobial resistance
