The College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida is seeking a Development Coordinator to join the advancement team in the Dean’s Office. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for the project management of the following activities: stewardship, budget management; gift reporting and meeting coordination; annual fund activities; and administrative requirements such as expense reports and other office support for the department. In addition, the Development Coordinator will assist the Senior Director of Development in trip activities. They will work closely with the Dean’s office to coordinate donor activities and reporting. Requires a highly responsible individual who can work independently and professionally with minimal supervision.

About the Opportunity

The Development Coordinator will partner with Annual Fund to increase giving in the College of Journalism and Communications; assists with Giving Day, the CJC Fall Giving Challenge, both quarterly and end of year activities, as well as any other events meant to drive annual fund giving.

This team member will support the Dean’s Leadership Council and other development related meetings. Manages invitation lists and RSVP’s for President’s Box and organizes/assists with the nominations processes for Distinguished Alumnus Awards, CJC Hall of Fame, and 40 Gators Under 40.

The Development Coordinator will arrange for appropriate research and background material to be gathered, prepare synopsis of donor/prospect information for briefing prior to travel, and prepare detailed itineraries for trips.

Must also oversee the stewardship program for UFCJC, including thank you letters, various cultivation mailings, donor recognition levels and societies, and more. This position will coordinate the evaluation, monitoring and implementation of appropriate electronic tracking and alert systems for donors and prospects.

Will be responsible for generating modified gift reports and email to departments on weekly, monthly and annual basis. This position will processes invoices, reconcile PCard charges, and expense reports for the department. Will assist the Senior Development Officer with the compilation, submission and tracking of departmental budgets.

The Development Coordinator assists in hiring, onboarding and training of new staff, including students and interns. Manages UFF fund maintenance through creating, editing, and closing of funds, in addition to reporting on fund balances and expenditures as requested. Processes gift agreements and disbursements. As well as, orders all promotional items and keeps collateral in stock.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong administrative and project management skills
  • Understanding of professional fundraising operations and ethics
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse constituencies, meet deadlines, be self-motivated, and work independently
  • Excellent oral/ written communications and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in sales, event planning, or alumni outreach
  • Experience in database management, prospect research
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work collaboratively and a team player
  • Ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute
  • Working knowledge in the following areas: Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Outlook
