Position Summary

Assistant Soccer Coach (9 month appointment): The position of Assistant Soccer Coach will hold a 50% appointment in the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (“the Department”) and will report directly to UWL’s Head Soccer Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist in the management of daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate women’s soccer program competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with responsibilities including, but not limited to, assisting in the planning, recruiting, coaching, developing, implementing, and administering of the soccer program to meet university and Department objectives. They will also be responsible for various administrative tasks associated with running an intercollegiate soccer program, potentially including, but not limited to, the planning of team travel; managing equipment and/or video and technology needs; managing social media accounts; and coordinating camps. The Assistant Coach must conduct themselves in such a way as to enhance respect for the university, the Department, UWL soccer program and UWL student-athletes.

Facilities & Events Coordinator (10 month appointment): The Facilities & Events Coordinator is an essential member of the Athletics department staff as they will administer all aspects of home events and special departmental events in addition to assist in the managing of the Athletic Facilities. This position requires that the Facilities & Events Coordinator effectively communicate with all staff members to create the highest quality home event environment for the 21 intercollegiate teams including all post-season events.

Description of College / Department / Program / Division / Unit

The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL . We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service, and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes several departments: Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Soccer coaching or playing experience at high school, club, or collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of recruiting and coaching strategies.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with, or demonstrated knowledge of facility and/or event management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Understand or, and commitment to, the NCAA Division III ideal.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and WIAC rules.
  • Collegiate coaching or playing goalkeeper experience.
  • Collegiate recruiting experience.
  • Direct event management experience.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment as needed.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Working conditions and environment
  • Evening and weekend hours are required.
  • Travel for recruitment activities is required. The ability to have and maintain a valid driver’s license meeting the criteria for driving a vehicle on University/State business is required. Drive Authorization required upon hire.
