Key Position Information:


Position Summary:
This is the fifth of six levels in the Information Technology series. Incumbents are responsible for planning, administering, and overseeing technical services operations including network infrastructure, telecommunications, help desk, and data center operations. Responsibilities include participating in the planning of college-wide infrastructure and related technology items; managing daily activities; participating in budget development and management; managing contracts/leases; and recommending policy and procedure modifications.


Requirements::
Knowledge:
  • Management and leadership principles;
  • Budget administration principles;
  • Program management principles;
  • Network server configuration and operation principles;
  • Various software applications;
  • Computer language and programming concepts;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Skills:
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies in use and contemplated by the college (.NET, (Core is a plus), MSSQL, EF Core, ASP.NET Core, Bootstrap, Typescript, C#, Git, Azure DevOps, Azure, WordPress, MYSQL, PHP, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code);
  • Programming and troubleshooting applications, databases, and systems;
  • Utilizing and managing cloud-based systems;
  • Establishing and following procedural and technical standards;
  • Communicating technical information to a non-technical audience;
  • Interpreting customer requirements and translating into system specifications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Physical:
  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.


Responsibilities:
These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.

Potential Frequency
1.
Manages staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, and maintains a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
Daily - 20%

2.
Manages the activities of the computer services area, which includes: planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; coordinating activities between multiple service areas; and, working to integrate and coordinate service areas.
Daily - 30%

3.
Prepares, manages, and recommends changes to budget and project resources.
Daily - 10%

4.
Performs a variety of negotiations with computer-related service and supply vendors; evaluates vendor reliability and pricing.
Daily - 20%

5.
Prepares and reviews a variety of reports concerning the needs, overall status of projects, work in progress, and/or other relevant issues.
Daily - 20%

6.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
