Position Summary

The University at Buffalo School of Law seeks an Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications to assist the Vice Dean for Communications with all communications and marketing initiatives.

The position serves many administrative roles including, but not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing effective marketing and communications strategies for targeted audiences.
  • Creating clear and compelling content and effective publications (including ads, brochures, an annual magazine and other print and digital materials).
  • The timely dissemination of law school news (through e-newsletters, social posts and press releases).
  • Reviewing law school communications to ensure compliance with the University’s brand strategy.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field, required.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience, preferably in Higher Education and a marketing/communications environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in developing communications for various audiences.
  • Familiarity with the legal industry and the Western New York legal community.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven design experience.
  • Proficiency with Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Data analysis skills and experience making strategic/data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute an integrated marketing and communication plan, work with market research, and produce print and electronic communication materials that yield demonstrable results/positive outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with all Microsoft products, particularly Power Point and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • J.D. preferred.
  • Strong command of Associated Press style preferred.
