Position Summary

The Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs (AADEA) will serve of the Athletics Department's senior management team. The AADEA will provide strategic leadership, planning and oversight of athletic revenue generation, marketing, community relations and sponsorships in an effort to increase brand awareness, and affinity for Hornet Athletics. Within this scope, the AADEA will establish relationships and build rapport to generate revenue to support scholarships, discretionary operational expenses and special capital projects. The AADEA will also provide assigned sport supervision.

FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $ 4,583.00 - $ 13,750.00 per month

Hiring Range: $ 4,583.00 - $ 13,750.00 per month

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8am- 5pm with the need to work outside of these to meet operational needs.

Department Information

With a current student population of approximately 30,000, Sacramento State, the capital University, is one of the larger campuses in the 23-campus California State University system, the largest system of higher education in the nation. The Athletic Department at Sacramento State supports 21 NCAA division 1 athletic teams and includes over 450 student athletes competing in the Big Sky, Big West, and the Western Athletic Conference. Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Experience:

3 or more years of progressive administrative experience at the NCAA Division I level, or similar experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to lead others.

Ability to coordinate work assignments and evaluate results.

Strong written/verbal communication with a high level of interpersonal skills and, ability to display sound judgement while operating in a flexible and professional manner. Establish positive relationships with boosters, alumni, students, faculty and staff.

Ability to present and convey ideas and information to individuals and groups of varying levels including students, professionals, management, etc.

Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task while exercising a high level of creativity and initiative

Ability to promote the athletic program effectively and contribute to the mission, goals, and objectives of the program/department.

Ability to work weekends, evenings and travel.

Ability to establish positive relationships with students, student-athletes, faculty, staff, the campus community, and the community at large.

Proficient with software systems such as Microsoft, CMS, Google applications (gmail and calendar) and Outlook.

Proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation and proofreading.

Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies.

Ability to develop, implement and monitor short and long term revenue generation strategies.

Ability to promote the athletic program effectively.

Skills in fundraising, communication, supervision, management and organization necessary.

A high level of creativity, strong initiative and self-motivation.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree.
2. 5 or more years' experience in administration at the NCAA Division I level.
3. Experience in overseeing sport programs.

Conditions of Employment

• Ability to travel to away games to provide sports supervision.
• Must be willing to work weekends and evenings.
