Introduction (Description of School/College/Dept/Program)
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, College of Letters and Science is currently seeking an Administrative Specialist. UWM offers a comprehensive liberal arts, STEM, and professional education at the undergraduate and graduate level to its 25,000 students. The College of Letters and Science is UW-Milwaukee’s largest academic unit, with 25 departments, 46 majors, and many interdisciplinary programs and centers. UWM’s 104-acre campus includes 18 acres preserved as green space and is located just minutes from downtown Milwaukee.

Job Summary
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is currently seeking an Administrative Specialist to join the College of Letters and Science Office of Curriculum and Governance. The staff in L&S Curriculum and Governance provide advisory, policy interpretation, technical, and administrative support to all units of the College in curriculum, governance, scheduling, and assessment. The Administrative Specialist for Curriculum and Governance works with the Director of Curriculum and Governance/Secretary of the College to support faculty and academic staff governance within the College and to coordinate with other UWM governance processes.

Activities will including managing all aspects of meeting scheduling for the three College governance committees; organizing and carrying out elections for the two standing committees; drafting agendas and minutes for the governance meetings; reviewing course and program proposals and changes; managing and tracking workflow of course & program changes as needed to coordinate with other governance committees; coordinating with other units of the College and the Registrar's Office to implement catalog changes, from minor changes to college-wide changes; assisting with records maintenance and archiving, paper and digital; work with Director and other L&S staff to respond to committee and other requests for research on policy, administrative practice, budgets, etc. as needed; collaborate on solutions to problems in curricular data, schedule, and other College processes. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team. The position offers opportunities to learn about institutional research and governance processes in a university setting.

Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree earned by hire date· One or more years of work experience in administrative or customer support in an office setting· One or more years of experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel· Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated through the application materials

Preferred Qualifications
· One or more years of experience in higher education administration or academic services· Experience working at UW-Milwaukee· Experience working with confidential and sensitive data and information · Master’s degree· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the use of formulas, graphs, and pivot tables
