CESP is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and creative Business Development Manager to join our team. In this position, the Business Development Manager will focus on the growth of overall university partnerships by engaging industry partners and collaborating across ASU. Under administrative direction, this position will develop, market, and manage key business development functions for corporate relationships across the University. This position will also advance and implement business development activities, seek sources of funding, expand professional networks and collaborate with others to successfully generate resources for the University. The Business Development Manager will execute their responsibilities from conception to completion, ensuring that objectives and outcomes are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations, and other specifications. 

 

Salary Range

$62,595 - $80,000 per year DOE

Essential Duties

  • Identify, pursue and manage long-term, sustainable business relationships with corporate partners that align with ASU goals and objectives.
  • Create and promote a portfolio of internal offerings for external clients, resourcing from ASU staff, faculty and research community to match companies’ interests.
  • Develop new, revenue-generating opportunities for the University. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in funding opportunities and business plan development/presentation.
  • Identify opportunities for the Knowledge Enterprise, Learning Enterprise and Academic Enterprise to add value to existing and prospective partners’ priorities. 
  • Provide business development consulting services to ASU faculty and staff. 
  • Develop, maintain and report on metrics to gauge the portfolio's social and economic impact on the University and community leaders.
  • Oversee and report on the financial management of assigned partnerships.
  • Utilize CRM and data management tools to monitor partnership engagement.
  • Follow business procedures and best practices established for the internal ASU corporate engagement community.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, technology-related discipline or closely related field and three (3) years’ closely related experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Master’s degree in Business or technology-related field and five (5) years’ closely related experience with demonstrated ability to bring concepts from development to successful launch.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a complex organization, including global networking.
  • Experience in traveling locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of corporate relations, business operations, and business development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of management and financial principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing concepts. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global business is preferred.
  • Experience in problem-solving and decision-making in a complex organization.
  • Experience in planning, analyzing, and coordinating activities, and establishing priorities.
  • Experience in program development, revenue forecasting, budgeting, administration, and business planning.
  • Experience in handling confidential information.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Additional qualities: Genuine interest in collaboration, innovation, and improvement for all parties involved.
  • Additional qualities: positive attitude, honesty, trustworthiness, excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and relationship management expertise.

 

Working Environment

This position is located in Scottsdale, AZ, and includes travel to other campuses.

 

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and are subject to the resolution of conflicts.
  • Communicate to perform essential functions.

Flexible work option:

  • Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Vice president-level approval is required.
  • Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two work weeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times
