Job Description

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director for TRIO Programs, organizes and implements the business operations functions for all TRIO Programs in accordance with established goals, priorities, and regulations. These functions include budgeting, accounting, payroll, staffing, and other functions.

 

Salary Range

$40,464 - $44,928 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Processes travel reimbursements, purchase of supplies, services, and equipment with use of P Card and other purchasing documents in accordance with established procurement and financial policies.
  • Prepares budget proposals and recommendations and administers budget control system for controlling expenditures; controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations;
  • Assists staff with pre-and post-award grants and contracts processes, including budget preparation; provides information, guidance, and interpretation of complex federal and state regulations governing management of grants and contracts.
  • Provides work direction and oversight over the activities of assigned staff or student workers.
  • Responds to audit requests and gathers documentation for payroll, pcards, and financial records. Also performs payroll and pcard reconciliations
  • Monitors or oversees the monitoring of a variety of account expenditures maintains, and reconciles detailed budgets for various accounts, advises and/or determines which expenditures are within the budget guidelines; informs management of irregularities and proceeds with corrective action.
  • Supports the processing of personnel searches and hiring and maintains personnel files consistent with University policies and practices.
  • Performs all activities associated with Department Time Administrator to ensure accurate and timely recording of exception and positive time for human resource staff members.
  • Provides work direction and oversight over the activities of assigned staff or student workers.
  • Assist with the hiring of assigned staff.
  • Monitors a variety of account expenditures,
  • Organizes and/or prepares departmental administrative and financial reports; recommends or action to be taken.
  • Represents the department and serves on various department and university committees

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Seven (7) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Master's Degree in Higher Education, preferred
  • Experience working with program development;
  • Experience working with Fiscal and Human Resource processes
  • Experience working with TRIO or other federal grant programs;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases

  • Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information
  • Work collaboratively across various departments and campuses within the University
  • Ability to lift 25lbs
