Development Associate

About the Opportunity

The Development Associate (DA) provides administrative and logistical support to the Associate Dean of Development within the College of Engineering (COE). The DA is the first point of contact for visitors and incoming phone calls to the Development Office. The DA sits at the front reception area and greets all faculty, alumni, staff, students and donors. The DA is responsible for managing the Associate Dean's calendar and coordinating travel. Additionally, this position periodically assists other members of the team, including emergency support to staff away from the office on university business and database reporting needs. The DA also prepares gift documentation for processing and reimbursements for the team. The DA prepares briefings and organizes itineraries for high-level visits and meetings both on and off campus. This position oversees and maintains accuracy of data and prepares reports using a variety of databases and programs. The DA implements and monitors systems to assure strategic follow up with prospects and donors, and contributes to departmental goals by accomplishing related duties as required. The position requires maturity, sensitivity, strong interpersonal and customer service skills, and a solid work ethic. The individual must be detail oriented, self-motivated and have the ability to prioritize the assigned workload while managing simultaneousness projects in a fast-paced environment. The position is ideal for someone seeking entry into advancement, communications, and/or event planning. The DA needs to represent the Development Office in a friendly, positive, organized and responsive manner.

Qualifications

The university seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, energetic individual who can think independently and analytically, and is interested in building a career in advancement, development, fundraising and/or communications. - Bachelor's degree required and 2-3 years of experience in office management, administration or customer service environment (higher education, development, and/or communication experience preferred). Writing and/or journalism background a plus. - Ability to manage and facilitate an intense workload and produce quality results in a fast-paced environment with multiple priority projects at once. - Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive material. - Will be proactive, anticipate problems, be resourceful and work effectively with colleagues and external constituents at all levels. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; enjoys working with people and possesses the necessary skills for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, alumni, parents) and internal (deans, faculty, staff, colleagues) constituents; highly collaborative in approach. Strong organizational skills required. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook; Knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
