Lecturer - Water Resources Engineering or Construction Materials Engineering

Location: Clemson, SC

The Glenn Department of Civil Engineering at Clemson University invites applications to fill a full-time, renewable non tenure-track Lecturer position starting in August 2022 in the field of Water Resources Engineering OR in the field of Construction Materials Engineering. For both areas, basic engineering mechanics classes (i.e., Statics, Dynamics, and Structural Mechanics) may need to be covered. Expertise in the land development area will be considered a plus. These two positions will use their content expertise to support the new ARCH Initiatives courses in the sophomore and senior years (https://issuu.com/clemsonce/docs/arch_initiatives_design_experiences). The Arch Initiatives series of courses are the outcomes of the Department's NSF RED (Revolutionizing Engineering Departments) grant.

The Lecturer will be appointed with a one-year contract, renewable annually, and with a potential for a promotion to Senior Lecturer after three years of excellent performance, and after 5 years to principal lecturer. Primary duties include teaching four courses per semester. The candidate should also be willing to accept departmental service assignments.

The department currently has 23 tenure-track/tenured faculty, and 3 Lecturers actively involved in research, teaching, and service. Civil Engineering is housed in Lowry Hall and has an enrollment of approximately 425 undergraduate and 125 graduate students. The undergraduate civil engineering program is ABET-accredited. QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in civil engineering or related fields; candidates holding a PhD degree in civil engineering or related fields will be given preference.

The candidate must have the leadership and communication skills to coordinate educational course objectives and to motivate over 50 students per lecture in a dynamic interactive environment.
