ROLE of the POSITION

The School of Architecture at the University of Nevada Las Vegas seeks qualified candidates to fill a nine-month, tenure-track, faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate will be able to teach design studios and lecture/seminar courses at the undergraduate level with an emphasis on foundations level design as it pertains to the discipline of landscape architecture.

 

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • function effectively across the disciplines housed within the UNLV School of Architecture;

 

  • be a strong and forward-looking advocate of progressive design thinking.

 

  • productively engage in teaching, and research/scholarship/creative activities in a manner conducive to an academic environment, i.e., the dissemination of completed work(s) in high impact academic venues.

 

  • productively pursue external funding to support their research/scholarship/creative activity agenda;

 

  • make service contributions within the University, College, School, and the professional community including but not limited to: committee assignments, curricular assessment and review, maintaining accreditation standards, and student mentorship.

 

VACCINATION MANDATE POLICY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a terminal degree from a program accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) in any of the three disciplines offered by the School of Architecture, or closely related allied discipline, from a regionally accredited college or university and well-qualified experience teaching in higher education, and/or the professional practice of landscape architecture. This position also requires proficiency in the ability to teaching design studios and lecture/seminar courses at the undergraduate level with an emphasis on foundations level design as it pertains to the discipline of landscape architecture. This position requires a proficiency in the application of current digital technologies. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

This position prefers a Ph.D. degree from a regionally accredited university and a record of externally funded scholarship/research, practice-based research, or creative activity.

 

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
