Position Description Assistant/Associate Professor of Management:

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Management will be primarily responsible for teaching courses in operations management and project management. Teaching of other undergraduate management courses or the principles of MIS course may be required to fulfill contractual obligations regarding course load. Both on-site and online delivery methods are required for all courses.

The normal load for this position is seven sections of courses each academic year. Scholarly activity, publications, service, and contribution to the maintenance of the college’s AACSB accreditation are required.

GENERAL STATEMENT:

Montana State University Billings is the third largest University in Montana and is located in Montana’s largest city. The University Campus and City College together are home to approximately 5,000 students. The university has five colleges, which offer a wide variety of degree programs to its students. Montana State University Billings employs approximately 500 employees, who together work hard to create an outstanding university.

The city of Billings, MT is a community of approximately 109,000 people located between rugged mountains and sweeping plains. As the largest city in Montana, Billings is a center for business and services in many areas, including finance, retail, transportation, agriculture, and energy industries. COLLEGE:

Montana State University Billings (MSUB) is a teaching-oriented institution, and excellence in teaching is its primary focus. The College of Business (COB) is accredited by AACSB. The COB has an undergraduate program, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with available emphasis in five areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Management will be primarily responsible for teaching courses in operations management and project management. Teaching of other undergraduate management courses or the principles of MIS course may be required to fulfill contractual obligations regarding course load. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ph. D in Management or Business Administration        
  • ABD’s will be considered but degree must be completed before employment start date 
  • Ability and interest in undergraduate teaching
  • Experience in research and ability to execute a research agenda 
  • Ability and willingness to develop teach sections/courses online 
  • Experience with Internship Programs 
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US. MSUB will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience teaching general business courses 
  • Experience teaching with experiential learning activities and projects 
  • Ability to interact with business community 
  • Previous private sector/practical experience in related areas 
  • Record of refereed journal publications 
  • Experience teaching online courses
