The Wheaton College (MA) Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Developmental Psychology, beginning July 1, 2022.

Wheaton College provides students a transformative educational experience in a supportive liberal arts curriculum that cultivates curiosity, passion, and career aspirations. We seek a colleague who is committed to teaching and mentoring undergraduates, and who shares the department’s commitment to fostering inclusion and diversity in teaching, service, and research. The successful candidate will maintain a research program that attends to issues of racism and racial justice in the context of child or adolescent development. The 3/2 teaching responsibilities include core courses in developmental psychology, a specialized seminar related to the candidate’s work, and general courses such as Introduction to Psychology, and Statistics for the Social Sciences.

Wheaton has been operating under a remote hybrid teaching model in response to the ongoing COVID -19 pandemic. It is our hope to return to an in-person teaching model starting with the fall of 2021. As such, there is an expectation that this position will be in-person on campus in Norton, MA.

The Psychology Department includes 10 tenure-track professors that study the breadth of the field and contribute to multiple interdisciplinary majors on campus. Tenure-track faculty at Wheaton are entitled to a fully paid pre-tenure sabbatical, and research funds to support scholarship will be made available.
