The Florida State University College of Medicine, Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine (BSSM) seeks candidates for a Full Time, Tenure Track Faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Rank. The applicant should have either a PhD in the social or behavioral sciences or public health, MD, or comparable degree. The Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine is committed to hiring a diverse faculty, and thus scientists from all backgrounds, especially backgrounds underrepresented in science and medicine, are strongly encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop/continue an independent line of research as indicated by a strong record of publications and extramural funding (commensurate with their rank) and participate in teaching medical students.  We are seeking to expand our research programs focused on development, testing, implementation, or dissemination of behavioral interventions, including health services research.  Although specific topic of research is open, we are seeking to complement existing programs related to health equity, maternal-child and lifespan health, mental health (including neuromodulation) and substance use, neurodevelopmental disorder and aging as well as chronic conditions and infectious disease such as HIV.  Our department seeks candidates whose work aligns with the college of medicine mission, which emphasizes patient-centered care for the underserved and community-engaged research.  Candidates will also be expected to engage in medical education. Opportunities for engaging in clinical work are available but not required.   Candidates who study minority and/or medically underserved populations are especially encouraged to apply.  As a community-based medical school, the FSU College of Medicine is particularly well-suited for conducting research in primary care and community settings.  For more information about the department, please see our website: http://www.med.fsu.edu.
