The University of Colorado Boulder's College of Music encourages
applications for an Assistant Dean for Advancement. The primary
purpose of this position is to lead institutional advancement
strategy and activities for the University of Colorado Boulder’s
College of Music.
Reporting jointly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor and the Dean of
the College of Music, this position and its advancement staff
support the Dean to engage donors, alumni and community volunteers
to advance the College of Music educational, research and service
mission as well as special programs like the Colorado Shakespeare
Festival. The Assistant Dean serves as a member of the advancement
leadership community and provides strategic leadership for an
advancement program that incorporates resource development, alumni
and constituent engagement and partners with the College’s
marketing and communications office.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Lead institutional advancement strategy and activities for the
University of Colorado’s College of Music (COM), CU Presents, and
the Colorado Shakespeare Festival.
Develop and reinforce best-practice fundraising programs to improve
private support over short, medium, and long-term horizons in
support of the College’s research, teaching, performance and
service mission. Sustain and enhance an emerging donor-centered
Manage a team with specific responsibilities for annual, major and
principal gift development, donor relations and stewardship, alumni
engagement, and constituent relations.
Responsible for the personal management of a portfolio of 70-90
donor and prospective donor relationships across the advancement
continuum; team and individual performance metrics are determined
annually with the Associate Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs in
the Office of Advancement in consultation with the Dean of the
Collaborate with campus-wide Industry and Foundation Relations team
to deepen corporate relationships leading to increased sponsorship
and sponsor satisfaction with their support of COM, CU Presents (an
auxiliary of the COM) and Colorado Shakespeare Festival programs
and performances, and to find opportunities to engage charitable
foundations in supporting the scholarly and creative work of
faculty and students.
As a member of the College of Music’s executive team, serve on the
Dean’s Cabinet and other committees as appropriate, and
meaningfully contribute to institutional strategy, performance and
Serve as the primary staffing liaison to the College of Music
Advisory Board and the Music+ campaign steering committee,
providing strategic support of resource development, alumni, and
community engagement activities.
Work collaboratively with the College of Music’s leadership to
increase institutional readiness for, and fulfillment of,
Establish effective working relationships with deans, division
heads, center directors, and faculty within the College in order to
understand their programs and priorities. Ensure that advancement
activities are the College's vision, mission, and goals of its
strategic plan and aligned with the vision, mission, values,
strategy and policy of the Advancement Division.
Responsible for resource management (planning, operating budget
planning and performance, etc.) associated with the College of
Music’s advancement program.
As a member of the CU Boulder Advancement Management Team,
contribute to overall campus resource development, constituent
engagement and reputation management strategy and activity,
focusing resources on critical College and pan-university
priorities and objectives.
Work closely and collaboratively with advancement colleagues across
the CU system. Serve as the primary liaison with university and
campus administrators, including the Division of Advancement
inclusive of the CU Alumni Association and, at the discretion of
the Associate Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs, with the
University of Colorado Foundation and the CU System Advancement
Represent the College of Music’s participation in planning for an
anticipated sesquicentennial campaign.

What We Can Offer
The salary range is $141,000 - $170,000 annually.

What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum eight years of experience in advancement with major and
principal gift's experience.
- Success leading and managing a team of advancement
professionals to achievement of annual and multi-year goals with
demonstrated commitment to the access and inclusion mission of the
University of Colorado and the School of Education.
- Experience with capital campaigns.
- Experience planning and carrying out all phases of a
comprehensive annual advancement strategy.
