Job Summary

The Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) encourages applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to carry out an experimental research plan to develop measurements techniques applying atom interferometry and compact cold-atom devices.

Who We Are

PREP is a special partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Colorado Boulder. PREP provides research opportunities to CU undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in NIST labs to gain research experience alongside NIST scientists.

The particular group that needs a researcher is the Atomic Devices & Instrumentation Group under the Time and Frequency Division at NIST.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Perform laboratory experiments including design and execution of experiments using atom interferometry as well as the design, construction, and testing of cold atom instrumentation.
  • Communicate results through laboratory notes, scientific publications, and presentations at national and international conferences.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $72,030 annually.

What We Require
  • A Ph.D. in Physics or related field (or to have completed degree requirements by the time of arrival).
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Research experience in atom interferometry and laser-cooling of atoms.
