The Athletic Operations Manager (I) is responsible for most of the overall setups and breakdowns of events held in the Department of Athletics & Recreation managed facilities. The Athletic Operations Manager (I) coordinates and plans special event preparation and site preparedness for all home athletic events and hosted internal and external events. He/She coordinates with Audio-Visual and Information Technology the needs of those events. In addition, the Athletic Operations Manager (I) hires, trains, and supervises most of the student staff members of Facilities & Operations. This position works under a general level of supervision. The Athletic Operations Manager (I) oversees event execution for three or four varsity programs each year.

Essential Functions
  1. Coordinates on-site event preparation for most home athletic events, academic classes, intramurals & recreation, and all internal and external hosted events. This includes setup, execution, supervision, and breakdown of each event.
  2. Assist with on-site preparation for all home athletic contests, academic classes, intramurals, and free recreation, convocations, tournaments, and special events (graduations, concerts, etc.) to ensure that the facility will be available for use. This includes set-up, supervision, and breakdown of each individual event.
  3. Hires, trains, and supervises a staff of part-time employees and work-study employees for daily facility maintenance, event preparation, misc. tasks to ensure that all activities are staffed and executed properly.
  4. Assist with the overall maintenance of the Sports Center and all other facilities including Bender Arena, Reeves Aquatic Center, Reeves Field, the Greenberg Track, other areas and outdoor basketball and tennis courts to ensure that facilities are in good repair and available for use. Track and monitor completion of maintenance projects directly with the Facility Manager.
  5. Maintains a departmental vehicle fleet of five 15-passenger vans. This includes scheduling the vehicles for use and maintenance, tracking the issuance and collection of vehicle keys, and ensuring vehicles are filled regularly with gas and cleaned.
  6. Other duties assigned by the Director for Facilities and Operations in order to support the department.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • The Department of Athletics & Recreation reports directly to the Office of President. The Athletic Operations Manager (I) reports directly to the Director of Athletic Facilities & Operations, and works in conjunction with the Department of Athletics & Recreation staff.
  • Reporting to this position are 40-60 student and part-time employees.
