The Department of Religious Studies at Notre Dame of Maryland University (Baltimore, MD) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured, faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor, commencing in August 2022. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.

 

The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in systematic or historical theology, conferred by August 2022, and some experience teaching in those areas. The ideal candidate will also have some experience in teaching courses in practical theology. A willingness to support and advance Notre Dame of Maryland's mission is essential to this position, and the new faculty member will provide a focused education in the spirit of Mother Theresa Gerhardinger and the School Sisters of Notre Dame, aligned with the mission of both the SSND and the university. Teaching responsibilities will include regularly teaching in the university's core curriculum, such as the introductory course "Religion and the Big Questions" and courses in ecclesiology, history or world religions, women and religion, and Christology. The position also calls for creatively designing undergraduate courses in one's area of interest in order to expand the major and minor programs. The ideal candidate will have the ability and desire to teach both face-to-face and online courses to a diverse student population, which includes returning adult students.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong skills in undergraduate teaching, with a willingness to work closely with undergraduate students. They will be committed to cultural diversity and have an active research agenda. The standard teaching load is a 3/4.
