Environmental and Ecological Engineering (EEE) at Purdue University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor. The position will be a 23-month temporary non-tenure track appointment, for up to 23 months; with a starting date will be at least one week prior to the academic semester that begins August 2022.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach a minimum of one core undergraduate course during each of the fall, spring and summer terms.  Concurrently, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out a research program of their own interests as well as developing collaborative research with existing faculty on campus.  The position is ideally suited to a candidate who is almost ready to embark on an academic career path, but is interested in developing a broader independent portfolio of research and instructional skills, utilizing the existing capabilities available at Purdue. It is expected the candidate will co-advise graduate students with existing faculty, supervise undergraduate researchers, and pursue extramural support for their own research activities.  A modest seed funding mechanism to support independent and collaborative research activities is available.

Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in environmental engineering or related discipline.  EEE engages more than 60 faculty members within the College of Engineering and across the campus with core faculty maintaining joint appointments in Agricultural & Biological Engineering, Agronomy, Civil Engineering, Forestry & Natural Resources, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, & Materials Engineering.  We welcome applicants with interdisciplinary training & research. Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to: industrial ecology, sustainable manufacturing, chemical/materials synthesis, circular economy, coupled engineered-human-natural systems, drinking water quality, wastewater treatment, water resources, life cycle engineering, indoor and outdoor air quality, air pollution control, value recovery from waste streams, solid waste treatment.
