Public health faculty members work collaboratively with other College of Health Sciences faculty, including directors, department chairs, college dean, and external public health constituents.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities of this 9- month appointment in the Public Health Department include teaching, scholarship, and service. Primary teaching expertise in public health program development and assessment, behavioral health, health education, and biostatistics is desired. Additional expectations involve advising and mentoring students and expanding and maintaining partnerships with community-based public health stakeholders. Duties also include maintaining a scholarly agenda that is consistent with University and department mission and philosophy. Participation in department and university services is required. Opportunities to participate in both local and international service-learning initiatives are available.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Public Health or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.

Rank and Salary: Tenure track assistant or associate professor. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The Department: The Public Health Department is housed in the College of Health Sciences and supports over 50 students. The Department is seeking accreditation as a Standalone Baccalaureate Public Health Program through the Council on Education for Public Health. The Public Health Department also includes inter-professional initiatives with the Departments of Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies.

The College: The College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments—Public Health, Athletic Training, Human Movement Sciences, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. Health sciences account for ~60% of the University enrollment. The mission of the College of Health Science is to educate students to be innovative professionals who collaborate to serve the health needs of their communities. A dynamic and growing entity, College-wide foci include interprofessional education and practice, the integrated approach to health, innovative learning and healthcare technologies, community partnerships and service to medically underserved populations. The new Waukesha Free Clinic at Carroll University expands education and clinic opportunities for the College's graduate and undergraduate students. The College supports the interdisciplinary nature of health science education and has received federal and private foundation grant awards to support these as well as program specific initiatives.

The University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive University. The Carroll mission is to “provide a superior education, rooted in its Presbyterian and liberal arts heritage, and draws upon the Christian tradition to prepare all students for vocational success, lifelong learning and service in a diverse and global society.” Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves 3600 undergraduate and graduate students. The University though intentionally ecumenical and non-sectarian in approach, is related to the Presbyterian Church, USA. Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.

Application: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please submit materials as attachments when applying in Word or PDF format: 1) a letter of application, 2) curriculum vitae, and 3) statement of teaching philosophy.

Final applicants will be asked to submit graduate transcripts, and three letters of reference.
