Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor in Movement and Cognitive Rehabilitation Science, University of Texas at Austin

The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Kinesiology & Health Education is seeking a faculty member in Movement and Cognitive Rehabilitation Science with specialization in biomechanics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The mission of the program is to advance core knowledge of biomechanical and neuromuscular control of human movement and to translate this knowledge into improvement of clinical outcomes across diverse populations. Collaborations exist within the area and with faculty in medicine, mechanical and biomedical engineering, neuroscience, psychology, physiology, nutrition and public health. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or MD in kinesiology, rehabilitation science, biomechanics, bio-engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Record or potential for scholarly leadership in clinical biomechanics research with applications to areas such as: neuromuscular control/learning, neurological/musculoskeletal impairments, changes across the lifespan from pediatrics/adolescence to older adults.
• Demonstrated record of, or high potential for, securing extramural research funding.
• Experience or capacity to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds and advance the College's mission of equity and excellence.
• For a hire at the Associate Professor level with tenure, applicants should have an excellent record of scholarship as well as a strong, on-going record of extramural funding.

The ideal candidate will have experience with, or potential to work with diverse clinical populations/clinical trials, and a research agenda that will leverage our core biomechanics/motor control and learning laboratories. Available key equipment include: a Motek gait system, V-Gait 3D instrumented split-belt treadmill and Virtual Reality system, multiple force plates for over ground assessment, Delsys EMG, and Vicon motion capture systems. These are complimented by a departmentally-controlled, 2,500 sq. ft. exercise training facility along with core physiology laboratories to support a range of biochemical assays, metabolic rate, body composition (DXA). There is also availability of fMRI and PET-CT at the Imaging Research Center on campus.
