The Area of Management in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University (TTU) is accepting applications for appointment as the Department Chair of the Area of Management (note that a department chair in the Rawls is called an “Area Coordinator”) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin in Fall 2022. Candidates with a background in entrepreneurship, human resource management, organizational behavior, strategic management or a related field will be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to fill the position of Area Coordinator (Department Chair) for a three-year term, subject to annual review by the Dean.


The administrative component of the Area Coordinator will include maintenance of a conducive research environment and stewardship of area resources. The Area Coordinator is also responsible for leading faculty in managing curriculum relating to management majors and overseeing class scheduling. The Area Coordinator also serves on the College’s Coordinating Council Committee and supports the Dean in evaluating and supporting college initiatives.


Salary and benefits are highly competitive and include an additional stipend while serving as Area Coordinator as well as financial support for research including data acquisition, domestic and international conference travel, and IT support. Teaching load is 1/1 while serving as Area Coordinator which is a one course-load reduction each during the fall and spring semesters from the normal load of 2/2 for an Associate or Full professor.

Required qualifications:

  • Rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure
  • Doctorate in entrepreneurship, human resource management, organizational behavior, strategic management, or a related field.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous administrative faculty experience including responsibility for all administrative, budgetary, curricular, and engagement activities of the Area
  • Strong record of scholarship supported by extramural funding and proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University
  • Experience in working with diverse student populations and first-generation students
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ability to lead Area’s engagement activities
  • Desire to work closely with the Rawls College’s executive leadership.

Area of Management

The Area currently has 21 faculty members and 11 doctoral students, who publish research in top journals in the field and are award-winning subject-matter experts in diversity, entrepreneurship, family business, human resource management, leadership, organizational behavior, organization theory, and strategic management. The Area takes pride in teaching excellence, and faculty members have been awarded various teaching awards.


Rawls College of Business

The Rawls College of Business is AACSB accredited, and offers BBA degrees with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information technology, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Several MBA programs are offered. First, a Professional MBA hybrid program is offered for students who wish to remain employed full-time; classes are offered one weekend per month in three locations in Texas: Lubbock, Marble Falls, and Rockwall, as well as an online MBA. A third MBA program is specifically designed for students with undergraduate degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Finally, the College offers a number of Dual Degree MBA programs. We also offer MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, and marketing research & analytics. A Ph.D. in business administration is offered with tracks in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. We have 71 tenure track faculty and 59 non-tenure-track faculty. The College has 4,640 undergraduate students and 872 graduate students.


Texas Tech University
