The University of West Florida (UWF) Center for Cybersecurity in Pensacola, Florida, invites applications and nominations for Associate Director for the Center for Cybersecurity (Position Number 126030), who will hold a faculty position of tenure-track Associate or Full Professor. The Associate Director will help lead and support the Center’s nationally recognized education, training, research, and outreach activities. This is a full-time, 9-month position with a guaranteed 1.0 FTE summer appointment that can start August 2022 or later. Salary is competitive and commensurate with education, experience and rank.

 

Position Highlights

UWF is seeking a strong cybersecurity leader with significant experience, national recognition, and demonstrated contributions in cybersecurity education, workforce development, grants, and research. Candidates with demonstrated experience developing and teaching various cybersecurity courses, training and/or workforce development programs are encouraged to apply. Teaching interests include but are not limited to cybersecurity fundamentals, network security, threat intelligence and hunting, cybersecurity operations, incident response, artificial intelligence and/or machine learning for cybersecurity, cloud security, and industry certification courses. Successful candidates will also have a strong track record of securing grants or contracts to support education, training, workforce development, and research. Research interests include but are not limited to cybersecurity education and training, artificial intelligence and/or machine learning for cybersecurity, critical infrastructure security, industrial control systems security, cybersecurity operations, offensive cybersecurity, cloud security, and Internet of Things (IoT) security.

 

Requirements

Associate Director Faculty Position, Center for Cybersecurity (Tenure-Track Associate or Full Professor)

 

This position will directly support the Center for Cybersecurity’s mission, activities, and administrative operations. The successful candidate will develop and teach cybersecurity courses and training programs; support and lead workforce development programs; submit and manage grant proposals related to training, workforce development, and research; disseminate research via scholarly publications and presentations; provide administrative support for the Center; and develop and enhance strategic partnerships.

 

A successful candidate may be hired at the rank of associate professor or full professor with tenure in the appropriate academic department. Rank and tenure within the University will be determined by educational background, experience, and record.

 

Position Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution with a strong commitment to cybersecurity- related teaching, research, administration, and service.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution. Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in cybersecurity teaching, grants, and research appropriate for the academic rank of Associate or Full Professor.

 

Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity teaching, training and curriculum development, as evident through teaching experience, impact and recognitions; development and instruction of successful

 

cybersecurity courses and training programs, including undergraduate and graduate cybersecurity courses and programs in face-to-face, online and distance learning environments.

 

Demonstrated evidence of administrative, management and leadership ability. Experience with managing Center operations, training, and/or workforce development programs. Familiarity with cyber ranges and their use to enhance education and training. Cybersecurity industry certifications including but not limited to Security+, CEH, or CISSP. Capable of holding a security clearance.

 

Demonstrated ability to secure external funding, including grants and contracts, to support education, training, workforce development, and research programs. Prior experience in the role of PI or Co-PI on funded grants and contracts.

 

Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines; experience with mentoring students and overseeing student research activities; experience in working effectively with a diverse student population and enhancing diversity among students.
