Purpose of Position: Serving as part of the
leadership team of The Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for
Campus Life (STAMP), this leader will inspire and supervise staff
in the Leadership and Community Service Learning (LCSL) unit to
create transformative student learning experiences for a diverse
student body. This position will build upon the rich history
and scholarship of student leadership development and community
engagement at UMD, while envisioning a new and exciting
future. This individual will lead staff to design initiatives and
curriculum that draw in diverse students including first
generation, low-income, students of color, LGBTQ, undocumented
and other students who hold marginalized intersecting identities.
As a member of the Stamp leadership team, this position will
provide vision and lead strategic partnering with community
organizations. The Assistant Director of LCSL will lead
the LCSL team in investing in leadership education and
community service in order to equip students with knowledge and
skills to lead change and make contributions that promote equity
and justice in an ever-changing society.
Essential
Duty/Responsibility (1): Supervise 6 full-time staff
including staff who direct the leadership minor, co-curricular
leadership, the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs, and
civic engagement initiatives. Lead the supervision/development of
graduate and undergraduate student staff, creating consistency in
training and development across LCSL. Percentage (1):

Essential Duty/Responsibility
(2): Guide all LCSL programs, course
offerings, campus and community partnerships, student engagement
opportunities related to leadership and service and strategic
direction of leadership and civic engagement
in UMD students. Implement LCSL-wide initiatives and
support advancement of all LCSL Initiatives. Employ
effective marketing, recruitment methods across the unit to
maximize the pipeline of students into LCSL. Develop a unified
vision for the office and cohesion between practices, to offer a
cohesive, developmentally scaled leadership and community
engagement office. Percentage (2):

Essential Duty/Responsibility
(3): Thoughtfully advance strategic partnerships and
empower staff to advance the work of leadership development and
civic engagement in our students, including maintaining enhancing a
critical partnership with the department of Counseling, Higher
Education and Special Education, and other departments engaged in
this work. \ Serve on Stamp, campus-wide and occasional external
committees; lead special projects. Percentage (5): 15%
Essential Duty/Responsibility (4): Teach
courses and in partnership with the College of Education, support
the development of curriculum affiliated with the Leadership Minor.
Percentage (3): 10%
Essential
Duty/Responsibility (5): Manage collective budget and
resources. Build/maintain systems to manage the consistent
coordination of operations including budget management,
fundraising, outreach, assessment and administrative functions
of LCSL areas. Other duties as assigned. Percentage
(4): 10%
