About the Opportunity:
The Office of Development is looking for a Development Associate to join their team in the Bouve College of Health Sciences!

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Development in the Bouve College of Health Sciences, the Development Associate is a critical member of the Bouve Advancement team and will work closely with the ADD (Assistant Dean of Development), other Bouve Development staff, academic leaders in the College, the Dean of Bouve College and the Central University Advancement Team. The position requires an energetic and affable individual who is eager to contribute through excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and collaborative interaction with other members in Advancement, academic departments, and external constituents. The Development Associate will also provide key support and management of logistics for all Development Officers at Bouve.

The Development Associate acts as an office manager by ensuring that day-to-day communications, operations and logistics are clear and timely. Handles expense reports and reconciles departmental budgets. Composes, proofreads, edits and prepares correspondence, reports and other materials, and manages travel arrangements and their logistics coordination. This position will contribute to Bouve Advancement goals by accomplishing related duties as required and work on a variety of mailings and weekly acknowledgements of gifts to respective colleges. The Development Associate is also responsible for answering phones, proofreading, drafting, word processing, filing, mailing, photocopying, general office administration, scheduling meeting, taking minutes when appropriate, attending to logistics of in-person and off-site meetings, etc.

The Development Associate works independently with minimal supervision, proactively and independently updating the Bouve ADD and Development Team on the status of projects. The Development Associate manages databases, conducts research, prepares briefings, coordinates events, and drafts, edits and prepares final documents and correspondence. This position will provide administrative support for the ADD and other Bouve Development Officers and will also manage the development of comprehensive briefings that include biographical information and meeting logistics for the ADD.

The Development Associate will gather and maintain data and assist in preparing paper and/or electronic reports using a variety of computer software systems. Organizes and implements administrative systems and procedures to ensure that the ADD and other Development Officers are being supported and working efficiently and effectively. The Development Associate must be comfortable talking to alumni, parents, students, staff and faculty via telephone and face-to-face interactions. This role acts as a liaison with other groups across Northeastern University.

In addition, the Development Associate will provide support (20% of their time) to the Associate Director of the HSE Program. The (HSE) Health Sciences Entrepreneurs program (HSE) operates within the Bouve College of Health Sciences, and was created to introduce entrepreneurial business opportunities in the health and life sciences to Northeastern University innovators. The Development Associate will provide administrative support to the Associate Director of HSE including: meeting logistics and calendar management, process expense reports, help organize events and logistics, and other clerical tasks as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required; at least two (2) years of professional experience preferably in higher education and/or development required.

  • Ability to manage and facilitate an intense workload and produce quality results in a fast-paced environment. —Must be able to manage multiple priority projects at once with ease and efficiency.
  • Must be proactive, anticipate problems, be resourceful and work effectively with colleagues and external constituents at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, trustees) and internal (deans, faculty, staff, colleagues) constituents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Highly collaborative in approach.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive material.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
