  Position Announcement
  The Department of History at the University of Oregon seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in African American history, beginning fall 2022. Time period and research subfield are open. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of, or strong potential for, high-quality scholarship and student-centered teaching. The department is especially interested in candidates whose teaching, research, and community engagement would complement and support the UO's new Black Studies minor.   Department or Program Summary
  The Department of History at the University of Oregon is a highly accomplished community of scholars and teachers. Our expertise spans the globe - from the American West and broader North America to Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa, including the Atlantic and Pacific worlds that link many of these regions. Our faculty and graduate students engage in teaching and research projects that foreground histories of environment, indigeneity, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality, but range broadly across temporal, geographic, religious, and ideological boundaries.
  
  The Department of History offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, MA, and PhD degrees. A group of over two dozen scholars and teachers with a passion for understanding the past in all its dimensions, our distinguished and innovative faculty hold several joint appointments with the Center for Environmental Futures, the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics, the School of Global Studies, and the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies. The department also provides core faculty and courses for the Black Studies, Latinx Studies, Asian Studies, and Native American and Indigenous Studies programs. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our faculty and the broad range of our course offerings and research projects.
  
  The Department of History offers degrees in both Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Science at the undergraduate level as well as Masters of Arts and Doctorates of Philosophy at the graduate level.
