The Department of Hispanic Studies at Vassar College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Hispanic Studies beginning Fall 2022.

Position Description
The successful candidate will specialize in contemporary Latin American and/or Caribbean literature and culture, considered from an interdisciplinary approach. We welcome applications from candidates whose scholarly work engages in one or more of the following foci:
  • Afro-Latin American Studies, Black Studies, Critical Race Studies, Critical Ethnic Studies
  • Indigenous Studies, Native justice
  • LGBTQIA Studies
  • social movements
  • popular culture

Ability to build bridges between the arts, visual culture, and literary/cultural studies will be considered a plus. Candidates should demonstrate their interest and ability to teach Spanish-language as well as advanced literature/culture courses. A promising scholarly research agenda is essential. Experience or interest in collaborating with multidisciplinary programs will enhance an applicant's portfolio. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is required. Completion of Ph. D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
