Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Technology Instructor teaches courses at a Community College in subject areas such as applied computer use, mathematics, blueprint reading and set up calibration, and operation of complex machine tools. The Instructor provides both classroom lectures and “hands-on” precision machining instruction and may develop a curriculum as needed to respond to workforce needs.

Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

1. An Advanced Manufacturing Technology Associates Degree and a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing technology industry experience.

Or

2. A High school diploma (or equivalent) from a public comprehensive high school or vocational technical high school and a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing technology industry experience and a CSCU community college advance manufacturing technology certificate or nationally recognized credential (i.e. NIMS, AWS, MSSC).

Or

3. A High school diploma (or equivalent) from a public comprehensive high school or vocational-technical high school and a minimum of 10 years of manufacturing technology industry experience.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Professional experience in the assigned advanced manufacturing subject disciplines
  • Experience applying academic and practical instruction techniques and methodologies
  • Experience proctoring student testing and evaluation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with online instruction and delivery methods such as Blackboard.
  • Experience in program development and assessment.
  • Two (2) years’ experience teaching college-level courses.
  • One (1) year of experience teaching at a community college (24credits)
  • Experience developing professional relationships with regional owners and operators of manufacturing businesses so as to facilitate student placement into internships and careers.
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Program Director or other administrator, the Manufacturing Technology Instructor is accountable for providing beneficial learning opportunities for assigned students through effective performance in these essential functional areas: Instruction planning and preparation; classroom and shop instruction; maintenance of student records; and program planning, development, and oversight. The Manufacturing Technology Instructor teaches a range of courses in subject areas such as applied computer use, mathematics, blueprint reading and set up calibration, and operation of complex machine tools. The Instructor provides both classroom lectures and “hands-on” precision machining instruction and may develop a curriculum as needed to respond to workforce needs.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

$62,169 (CCP17)/$67,587 (CCP18) approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $62,169-$113,025 (CCP17) or $67,587-$122,795 (CCP18).
