This is an extraordinary opportunity for a results-driven strategist and change agent to serve as the inaugural Vice Provost for Enrollment Management in this newly designed role.

As the inaugural Vice Provost for Enrollment Management the successful candidate will design, develop and lead this department as the University engages in innovative approaches to enrollment management and data-driven decision-making. Utilizing current trends, best practices and previous experience, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management employs a data-driven approach to target and grow a diverse student body well-suited for the University of Akron. The ideal candidate has a proven history of leveraging technology and the latest recruitment practices to achieve recruitment and retention goals and meet the evolving needs within a complex research institution. This dynamic leader is comfortable prioritizing and managing multiple operations within enrollment management which plays a foundational role in the new strategic plan for the future of The University of Akron. The successful candidate will lead operations for admissions, financial aid and the enrollment data group.  As we evolve our enrollment management activity, we will augment these groups as needed to assure success in our enrollment plan.

Using the latest research, thinking and best practices in enrollment management, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management is expected to establish an integrated, analytically informed, and collaborative approach to University-wide enrollment; routinely analyze data to shape enrollment directions and make appropriate adjustments to an integrated and strategic enrollment effort; and evaluate, design, and implement a structure that fosters increased coordination and cooperation across colleges.

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President and Provost, and participating on the President’s Cabinet, this position will be intimately connected to academic units and supported by the Department of Planning Strategy and Insights.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all aspects of the recruitment, application, and admissions processes for all students at all University locations – undergraduate and graduate, transfer, veterans, adult learners, degree completers and certificates, international.

Employ data-informed decision-making and use current technology and predictive analytics in creating and implementing the enrollment management plan.

Lead the effort to expand enrollment with a broader mix of traditional, adult, transfer, military/veteran, and distance education students.

Ensure that the enrollment management plan is directly aligned with and embedded in the University’s Strategic Plan.

Embrace the role of a public urban research university to provide opportunity for the communities it serves, with an increased focus on increasing the diversity of students.
Coordinate with University Communications and Marketing to maximize the impact of our efforts through all forms of media outreach on recruiting.

Work in close collaboration with the Vice Provost for Student Pathways and Dean of the Williams Honors College, the Vice President for Student Affairs, and the Senior Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, to support student retention and success.

Oversee all aspects of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Office of Student Financial Aid; and closely coordinate with the Graduate School on recruitment and enrollment efforts.

Required Qualifications:

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
At least five years of enrollment management leadership experience, with a track record of implementing strategies to recruit and retain a diverse student body.
Thorough knowledge of best practices in enrollment management, including strategies to attract and retain a variety of undergraduate student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Enrollment management experience in a university setting.
A doctoral degree
