The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking aBusiness Services Analystwho will be responsible for the day-to-day activities and tasks assigned to support the finance responsibilities and management of hearing aids procurement for the Department.

The successful candidate is responsible for providing more analytical data on the purchasing, sales and returns from our Hearing Aid Service. Including working with the JH Compliance Team to ensure accurate billing submissions in this area. In addition, this position will provide data analysis support to the Sr. Financial Analyst.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of business operations and requirements through engagement with stakeholders (including faculty).
  • consolidate the finance work and management of hearing aids procurement
  • provide more analytical data on the purchasing, sales and returns from our Hearing Aid Service.
  • Extracting clinical, financial and procurement data from existing information systems for the Audiologists and Sr. Administrative leaders (e.g. SAP, ORMIS, Epic etc.).
  • provide data analysis support to our Sr. Financial Analyst.
  • Proactively identifies issues and solutions whenever possible.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the Audiology, Speech Language and Deaf Educators division, and train staff accordingly.
  • Provide supervisory oversite to Medical Office Coordinators within the divisions of Audiology, Speech Language and Deaf Educators unit.
  • Developing methodologies to track new relevant clinical and financial data in order to support continuous improvement of ordering supplies/equipment to maximize care delivered and financial responsibilities.
  • Develop statistical reports and reporting platforms to increase transparency and information flow among providers, administrators, and other management, and providing other necessary analytical support to clinicians and management in order to improve the quality and consistency within the department of Otolaryngology.
  • Work on low and medium-level complexity projects independently, and seek guidance, as appropriate, on highly complex tasks.
  • Candidate should have high analytical ability to solve complex problems and be a self-starter, able to work independently with staff at various levels of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance.
  • 3 years of related experience required.
  • Master's Degree in a related field may substitute for required experience and additional experience may substitute for education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*

* JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of health care and hospital clinical operations and the interrelationship of clinical process, financial transactions and Information Systems applications.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience using relational databases and coordinating various computer/database platforms.
  • Applicant should have excellent skills working with excel.
  • Knowledge of medical coding systems (i.e. ICD9, CPT) is desirable.
  • Ability to distill and articulate technical and organizational approach to clinical data needs.
  • Candidate should have high analytical ability to solve complex problems and be a self-starter, able to work independently with staff at various levels of the organization.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:

  • Preferred knowledge of EPIC system and Project Management skills
  • Able to develop and design statistical reports using multiple databases and data management systems.

  • 6 individuals.

Starting Salary Range: $59,870 - $82,250 annually (commensurate with experience)

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
